Google Street View Instructions: (Drag the top right corner of this window to expand.)

Before using the "Google Street View" features, ZOOM into the area of the map you are interested in. Street View is not everywhere, but much of Cranbrook is covered. After you drag "Pegman" onto the map, roads with Street View will highlight in blue. Drag Pegman slowly and wait before releasing your left mouse button for the server to deliver the "Blue Roads". Once a Blue Road is visible near your target location, drop Pegman on the road. Street View images will appear in this window. Further instructions are below:

1. "Pegman" is resting at the top left of the screen, waiting for you to grab him and drop him on the map.
2. When you move your mouse over Pegman, he will shift appearance, showing he is ready to go!
3. While Pegman is on the map, his resting place has a grey placeholder image. This tells you that Pegman is somewhere on the map. If he is lost, click the button labeled "Center Map", and the map will move so that Pegman is in the center. If this window is covering the center of the map, then either adjust this window or the map till you can see both Pegman and the Street View images at the same time. When Pegman is on the map, the green arrow under him is pointing in the direction of the camera. If you drag the Street View image around, you can watch the green arrow rotate in to show you the new camera direction.
4. When Pegman is on the move (you are dragging him), a green spot will follow under him. This green spot shows where Pegman will land when you drop him.

Mouse Controls, Map Controls and Terms:

• DRAG = place you mouse over a target (Pegman), hold down left mouse button, keep your left mouse button held down while you move your mouse to new location. If the item you originally selected is "draggable", then it will move with your mouse to the new location. Google Maps itself is draggable, just press down on your left mouse button, the cursor will change to a closed hand, and you can "Drag" the map. Pegman is draggable. The top right corner of this window is draggable and will result in this window resizing./li>
• DROP = at the end of a DRAG operation, letting go of your left mouse button will DROP the item you were dragging in to new location. Pegman shows you where he will land with a green target spot.
• RELEASE is the same a DROP. It means to release your left mouse button
• DRAGGING the map is called PANNING.
• Zooming the Map
1. SHIFT KEY DRAG is the fastest way to zoom in. Press and hold the SHIFT key. The map will slightly change color and the mouse cursor will change to a "CROSS". In this mode, you can DRAG a small blue rectangle over the map area you are interested in. Letting go of the SHIFT key will then cause the map to zoom into the area that you drew the blue rectangle over. Repeat these steps until you have exactly the view you desire. Smaller rectangles zoom in more.
2. Roll your center mouse wheel to zoom in and out. First place you mouse in the area you are interested in, then roll the mouse wheel. Forward zooms in, band backward zooms out.
3. Double Clicking the map will zoom in on the area that you clicked. However, if you have clickable layers on the map, you may trigger a pop up window or some other action.
4. Map Zoom Control. At the top left is the standard Google Map Controls. Click the plus to zoom in. Click the minus to zoom out. Click higher on the bar connecting the plus and minus icons to zoom in faster. Likewise click lower on the bar to zoom out quickly. This can be very handy to zoom out quickly! Drag the slider on the bar between the PLUS and MINUS icons, then let go at the desired zoom level
5. KEYBOARD CONTROL - tap the "plus" key to zoom in, or the "minus" key to zoom out.
• Clicking the "Magnifying Glass" Icon will allow you to type in a Cranbrook address. The map will then move to that approximate location. Turn on one of the layers that has address information. Then you can click the polygons on map to get the exact address and find the parcel you are looking for.
• Clicking the "Pegman" Icon will hide or show this window.
• Clicking the "Money" Icon will open up choices related to doing business with Landmax.
• Clicking the "Email & Telephone" Icon will hide/show our contact information. Close these when not required to make more room for the map.
• Clicking the words "Cranbrook Real Estate" in the title area to zoom the map out to all of Cranbrook, if you get lost.
• Clicking the words "Landmax Kootenay" will take you out to our Kootenay Regional web site.
• The large ICONS in the "Title" area at the top center of the window act like toggle switches. Click them once to show something OR if the item is already visible, then it will be hidden.
• The "Map Layers" menu at the top right will allow you to place various overlays on top of the map. These are "clickable" meaning that if you click you left mouse button on an active area, a pop up balloon will give you more information. Turn the layers off when not needed.
